Simmental | Angus | SimAngus
For 35+ years, Sunflower Genetics has bred Simmental, Angus and SimAngus cattle for commercial cattlemen. Sunflower Genetics is owned and operated by Steve and Mary Gleason and their family. There are 5 kids: Jake, Becky, Ben, Joe and Sam. Sunflower Genetics is located 3 miles south of I-70, southeast of Maple Hill, KS. Calving ease, growth, carcass traits and overall productivity are of utmost importance in our breeding program. We trust in each breed to complement each other in such a way that our bull customers can use both breeds as well as our SimAngus and experience the "Perfect Blend of Genetics" in their cowherd.
The Angus cow herd was introduced in 1987 and has been a major contributor to our genetic package ever since. Today our primary focus is on SimAngus genetics for the progressive commercial cattleman. We feel strongly that the combination of Angus and Simmental genetics produces the most flexible blend of genetics available. The complimenting strengths these breeds offer assist in our goal of providing trouble free, predictable genetics that add profit to our customers business. It all begins with maternal ability to raise a calf and breed back. Still we understand the ultimate goal is "profit" for the entire beef industry, therefore feedlot and carcass profitability is also carefully selected for. Focused on the future, Sunflower Genetics looks forward to expanding our role in the seedstock industry. We are excited about the next 30 years of SimAngus genetics and anxious to help our customers generate profit.
